Step 1: First navigate to your screen and organize it the way you want it to be captured. ( Suppose you want to take a screenshot of a location on Maps. Open Maps–> Point on the desired location–> Make sure its visible)

Step 2: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button (located on the top right edge of the device) and simultaneously press the home button (at the bottom, in the middle)
Step 3: You will see a subtle white flash over the screen and hear the camera shutter sound (if the ringer is ON). This is when you know your screenshot has been taken.
Step 4: The screenshot can be accessed from the Photos folder on the Home Screen.
Step 5: Scroll down until you find your screenshot.
Alternate Method:
In case your Sleep/Wake or Home buttons are broken, you can use the Assistive Touch Floating Button to take a screenshot.
Step 1: On the Home Screen, tap the Settings icon.
Step 2: Navigate through General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch.
Step 3: Turn the switch ON, so that it is green now.
Step 4: You will now see a black translucent square lurking around one of the screen edges.
