Marketplace is directly integrated onto you Facebook application itself. So to visit Marketplace on your mobile phone, just tap on the shop icon at the bottom of the Facebook app and start exploring.
Locating Items For Sale In Your Neighborhood
The page opens up with photos of items that people have listed for sale in the neighborhood. If you’re looking to discover something specific, search at the top and later filter your results by location, category or price. You can also browse what’s available under a variety of categories such as Household, Electronics and Apparel etc. You can use the built in location tool to adjust the region you’re looking in, or switch to a another city completely.
When you come across something that catches your eye or that which you’re interested in, tap on the image to see more details from the seller. These details will include a product description, the name and profile photo of the seller, and their general location. In case you want to come back and take a look at it later, you have the option to save/bookmark the item.
So all set to purchase that item you have been seeking all along? Send the seller a direct message from Marketplace to tell them you’re interested and also make an offer against the one that quoted by seller. From that point on, you and the seller can work out the details in any way you choose. Do note that Facebook does not facilitate the payment or delivery of items in Marketplace.
How To Sell?
As easy as it was to buy an item, Selling is no different. Follow these quick steps;
- Click a photograph of your item, or upload it from your camera roll.
- Enter all the specifications related to the product (name, price, description etc).
- Confirm your location and select a category.
Your item up for sale. And now, anyone in your locality can find your item and message you if they are interested to buy it. You can also share your post with Marketplace and even share it with specific buying and selling groups as well.
You can keep track of all your present and past transactions in Marketplace by visiting the “Your Items” section on the application. Here, you can view your saved items, the items you’ve posted for sale, and all your communications with people across the buying and selling platform.
Marketplace is accessible to anyone over 18 years, as official documentation is required. Over the next couple of days Marketplace will be launched in four different countries namely the US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand on the Facebook app for both iPhone and Android.
They also intend on expanding to additional countries and make Marketplace available on the desktop version of Facebook in the coming months as well.
