Freezing is almost a common problem. It restricts nearly all the functions and creates performance issues. You won’t be able to place or take calls, use any of the apps or check your messages. In short, a frozen iPhone is a nightmare! Here are some ways to fix iPhone freezing problem:

Reset your device:

The first and the most brutal advice would be to reset your iPhone. As much as it is successful almost every time, it might not store the details of whatever you were working on right before the freezing disaster! Hard reset is never considered healthy for any smartphone.

Step 1 : Hold the home button (the round button at the bottom of the screen) simultaneously press the Sleep/Wake button on the top edge (or on the right edge for iPhone 6 and 6S)

Step 2 :Hold them together for a while. You will see the Apple logo appearing on the screen. That’s your cue for letting the buttons go.

This technique usually works. If your iPhone continues to freeze even after rebooting, you may go for the other ways.

Kill the running Apps:

Some times particular applications might be the root cause of freezing. You can recognize them if your phone hangs or freezes while using those particular apps. If you locate one such app, its advisable to delete it. In case you really need that app, try force-shutting it.

Step 1 : Press the home button twice.

Step 2 : You will find a filmstrip of all the previous apps that you used.

Step 3 : Find the app that you suspect is the reason for the freezing. Slide it upwards to close it.

If this app is a built-in one, you won’t be able to delete it. In that case, the best you can do is to erase its data. Here’s how:

Step 1 : From your Home Screen, tap on Settings.

Step 3 : Scroll down, you will find an option Clear History and Website Data.

Step 4 : Confirm when you get a prompt message.

This might take some load off your iPhone and hopefully freeze less.

Update your iOS version:

The freezing problem might be happening courtesy to some bugs in the current iOS version you are using. Getting an update is the only getaway from this problem. There are 2 ways to update your iOS

  1. Using iTunes

    Step 1 
    : Connect your iPhone to your computer using a USB cable.

    Make sure you keep a backup of your data before updating. This might take a while. )
  2. From your iPhone

 Step 2 : If you have a pending update, Tap on the Install Now option. ( If your device is up to date, there will be no such option available.)

Restore your iPhone:

If the above steps don’t help, I’m afraid that you will need to restore your iPhone. This process will erase all your data, so don’t forget to keep a backup of your files before restoring.

Step 1 : Connect your iPhone to your computer using a USB cable.

Step 2 : Select your iPhone from the Devices menu.

Step 3 : Navigate to the Summary tab. Click on Restore.
